The film I, Daniel Blake shows how the social security system cannot always protect people from poverty. The film shows how human error can have major consequences. At WUR, Ninke Feenstra studies how food poverty has changed over the years - a key component of social security. To do so, she uses economic models to predict how food poverty may look different in the future. Despite her focus on numbers and data, she also looks for the human stories behind those numbers. An example of such a story is told in the compelling film I, Daniel Blake.
